Tinea Infections
Luminaderm® botanicals and Luminaderm® polymers compounds demonstrate in vitro antifungal activity against Tinea (athletes foot and onychomycosis)-causing Trichophyton organisms.

Luminaderm® polymers are effective against Trichophyton in NovaBiotics' model of superficial/mild onychomycosis

Clearance of Trichophyton infection from full thickness toe nail after 14 days of daily application of Luminaderm® polymers an a 0% (control), 5% and 10% solution to the proximal surface of infected nails.

Anti-dandruff activity of leave-in scalp serum (with light styling properties) containing 0.5% NP108 and 0.5% botanical have clear zones of clearance of M. furfur and M. pachydermatis.

Anti-dandruff activity of rinse-out light conditioner containing 0.5% NP108 and 0.5% botanical have clear zones of clearance of M. furfur and M. pachydermatis.
Acne
NovaBiotics have identified a series of polymers that are active against the organisms associated with acne and polymicrobial dermal infections. All were microbicidal against a selection of P. acnes clinical isolates.

(n) = number of P. acnes isolates tested | MIC measure by CLSI methods at pH 7.0
Impact of salt and pH on bacterial growth over 24 h exposure to Luminaderm® polymers.

Dandruff
Recovery of Malassezia furfur was determined following exposure to a leading anti-dandruff conditioner, with or without the inclusion of 1% Luminaderm® polymer NP108 or zinc pyrithione, for different times. In the presence of NP108 there was a clear and rapid anti-Malassezia effect over and above the zinc pyrithione containing products against the most challenging of Malassezia spp.

Conditioner containing 1% NP108 is rapidly effective (in as little as 3 min of exposure) against M. pachydermatis whereas the market-leading anti-dandruff is not. Luminaderm® offers true anti-dandruff potential deliverable in a hair and scalp-friendly formulation.
The MIC data for Luminaderm® compounts active against the bacteria and yeast associated with acne and polymicrobial dermal infections, dandruff and tinea infections (including athletes foot and onychomycosis) are available.
Antimicrobial analyses have been carried out according to the CLSI Standards, with access to a unique in-house culture collection of type strains and clinical isolates of relevant fungi, yeast and bacteria.
Luminaderm® botanicals and polymers are not haemolytic or cytotoxic at microbicidal concentrations.
